Here, I collect all my favorite Paleo recipes and food experiments as I try to live a healthier life through real and wholesome food. Occasionally, I will write about other aspects of healthy living too, like mindfulness, sustainability, and natural beauty. And sometimes food politics. I try to organize everything I learn by writing about it in this blog, and I hope some of you end up finding it helpful.

I tried out Paleo just for the heck of it and discovered that I can look and feel more energized and healthy by simply eating the right foods. After just a month of following the Paleo diet, I lost a bunch of weight, my skin cleared up, I became more energized and virtually stopped getting sick.
I firmly believe that our current Standard American Diet (“SAD”) is not the healthiest option for our minds and our bodies, with its overabundance of grains, refined sugars, processed foods, and other junk. Those foods are not necessary, and they end up doing more harm than good.
What is Paleo?
The Paleo Diet is considered by many to be the healthiest way to live, because it focuses on food groups our ancestors ate for hundreds of thousands of years, and it’s the diet our metabolism is most adapted to.
The agricultural revolution happened over 12,000 years ago, which is when humans began massively consuming grains and dairy. But if you think about it, 12,000 years ago isn’t that long. Humans existed for millions of years before the agricultural revolution, typically hunting and gathering to survive.
That was the Paleolithic Era, which The Paleo Diet is named after. Despite what it sounds like, living a Paleo lifestyle does not mean you only have to eat the things ancient humans had access to, it merely aims to bring you closer to the types of foods that our species have evolved to thrive on.
So, what is and isn’t considered Paleo?
Not Paleo: grains (wheat, rice, barley, oats, quinoa, rye, etc.), legumes (peanuts, beans, peas), dairy, artificial ingredients, hydrogenated oils, starches (potatoes), added sugars and anything processed.
Paleo: animal protein (beef, chicken, pork, fish, shrimp, etc.), vegetables, nuts, fruits, healthy fats.
Why do people choose the Paleo lifestyle?
Introducing grains, dairy, legumes, and processed foods into our diet also introduced some problems. Eliminating these food groups, like the Paleo lifestyle suggests, helps you improve sleep, improve your skin, your hair, your immune function, and energy levels, lose weight; as well as lower risks of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.
Paleo is good for people that want to be healthier, eliminate toxins, reduce the risk of serious diseases, and lose weight.
That being said, Paleo is more than just another weight-loss diet, it’s a lifestyle change that includes shifting the way you view food. It’s no longer just about satisfying that hideous monster we call “hunger” – it’s about fueling your body with the things that are necessary and beneficial while eliminating anything that harms it or simply depletes it of the nutrients it needs.
